- Does the door need a new frame? If the existing frame is square, dry and sound, replacing just the slab, which is the door itself, works. If there is soft wood at the sill or the door has been binding, replacing the frame is the only lasting answer..../door-options/entry-doors/
- Why does my wood door stick in summer?Humidity swells a wood door and can warp it out of shape, which is why a door that closed cleanly in February drags in August. Fiberglass and steel do not move the same way. Before replacing, check the hinges, because.../door-options/entry-doors/
- Will a storm door damage my entry door?It can, on a sun-facing entry. The gap between a full-glass storm door and a dark door behaves like a small greenhouse. A ventilated or partly screened panel releases that heat and removes the risk./services/door-installation/

Steel costs less and is very secure, so it makes sense for side doors, rentals or tigh.../blog/best-entry-door-material-alabama/
- Will a dark front door warp in the Alabama sun?A dark door on an unshaded south or west facing entry gets much hotter than a light one, and that heat can bow the door or wear out its finish early. If the threshold feels soft or the door has been sticking for years, replacing the whole prehung unit over a new sill pan is the.../blog/best-entry-door-material-alabama/
- How often does a wood front door need refinishing? It depends mostly on exposure. A wood door tucked under a deep porch can go much longer between refinishing than one that takes direct sun and rain. - Do glass sidelights make a front door less efficient?Glass lets more heat through than an insulated door panel, so sidelights and transoms add some heat gain, especially on a sunny side of the house. Low-E glass helps limit that. Many homeowners decide the extra dayligh.../blog/best-entry-door-material-alabama/
- What actually keeps the threshold dry?A sloped sill pan with a raised back edge, flashed and lapped so gravity drains water out rather than into the framing. It is invisible once the door is in, it is the step most often skipped, and it is the reason a th.../door-options/entry-doors/
- Can I add sidelights or a transom?Often, yes. Sidelights are narrow glass panels beside the door, and a transom is a glass panel above it. Adding them changes the size of the unit and the work around it, so we measure first and spell out the scope in .../door-options/entry-doors/

- Will a storm door fit my front door? Most standard entry doors can take one, as long as the opening is square. If it is out of square, that has to be corrected for the storm door to close and seal properly, which is one of the things that moves the price.../door-options/storm-doors/
