Driveway and concrete cleaning in North Alabama

Real pressure washing for driveways, walkways, patios and hard masonry, the one group of surfaces where high pressure is the right tool.

Quick answer

Concrete driveways, walkways and patios in North Alabama can take real pressure, and a spinning surface cleaner gives an even result without the stripes a hand-held wand leaves. Old oil stains usually improve a lot but rarely vanish completely. Pavers get lower pressure at the joints so the sand stays in place.

The details

Who it suits

Grey or stained concrete, tire marks, green or black growth on shaded slabs, and pool decks where algae has become a slip risk.

Surface cleaner, not a wand

A wand held by hand leaves stripes, visible bands where the passes overlapped unevenly. On a driveway those stripes stay until the next wash, and they look worse than the dirt did.

A surface cleaner is a round, spinning tool that holds the spray at a steady distance from the concrete. That is what gives an even finish across a large slab. If a quote is unusually cheap, ask what they will clean with.

Edges, joints and runoff

We lower the pressure at joints, expansion gaps and edges, where a full-force pass can lift joint material or damage nearby plants. Pool coping, the edge around a pool, and any sealed surface also get reduced pressure.

Runoff is steered away from planting beds. On a sloped driveway, that takes planning rather than hope.

Oil and other stains

Old oil that has soaked in rarely comes out completely. A degreaser and time to soak will lift most of it. The honest expectation is a big improvement, not removal.

Mildew, algae and everyday grime usually clean up well. We will tell you at the estimate which stains should go and which will only fade.

How often to clean concrete here

In this humid climate, shaded slabs and north-facing walks grow a green or black film quickly, and that film turns slick when wet. Many homeowners clean concrete every year or two, and sooner on walks and steps that stay damp. Clean concrete is a safety matter as much as a looks matter.

How it compares

On concrete, soft washing alone under-delivers, because the stains are ground in rather than just living on top. A freehand wand gives stripes. This is the one surface where more pressure, applied evenly, is the right answer.

What affects the price

We price after measuring, line by line, with the materials named. These are the things that move the number.

  • Square footage
  • How heavy the staining is, and what kind
  • Surface material and condition
  • Access and slope
  • Whether sealing follows

Questions people ask

Is pressure safe on concrete?

Yes. This is the surface where real pressure is the right tool. We use a surface cleaner rather than a wand so the coverage is even, because wand marks on a driveway stay until the next clean.

Will oil stains come out?

Old oil that has soaked in rarely comes out completely. A degreaser and time to soak will lift most of it, and the honest expectation is a big improvement rather than removal.

What about pavers?

Pavers get pressure across the field and less at the joints, because full pressure blows out the joint sand. Re-sanding afterward is part of the job on any paved area that needs it.

Can pressure washing damage concrete?

It can if it is done badly. Too much pressure held too close can etch the surface or leave stripes. A surface cleaner at a steady distance, with lower pressure at edges and joints, avoids that.

How often should I clean my driveway?

Many homes here do it every year or two. Shaded areas that grow a green or black film may need it sooner, especially walks and steps that get slippery.

Do you clean concrete for businesses?

Yes. We have cleaned storefront walkways at shopping centers, and restaurant patios, pavers and drive-thru lanes with grease and oil stains.

Do I need to move my cars?

Yes, please move vehicles off the driveway and clear away mats, planters and toys before we arrive. That lets us clean the whole slab evenly.
